Thank You
As 2025 comes to a close, it feels worth pausing to acknowledge how much this blog has grown this year, and to revisit the story of how it all began.
OhSoAnnie began in a much earlier version of my life. In eighth grade, I decided that I wanted to be the next Editor-in-Chief of Vogue. So, I started gathering my wildly unfiltered stream of consciousness on a makeshift website that was only being read by one person: my mom. There was no strategy or understanding of what it meant to build a platform – just an innocent fascination with building something.
My next goal — to attend Paris Fashion Week — came to life soon after. I used this blog as a pitch-deck of sorts, presenting my ideas to all of my favorite designers. Then, one by one, envelopes started appearing in the mail. Specially delivered dresses followed. Suddenly, the dream was literally showing up at my door. I booked a plane ticket and flew to Paris with my mom, grandma, and six-month-old sister.
What began as a small, personal project (and will forever be) has now steadily expanded in subscribers, readership, and engagement in ways that I never could have anticipated. My articles are now being read on every continent, and my engagement has averaged a 200% monthly increase. The “Philosophy of Fashion” series has been read all over the United States, China, Singapore, Netherlands, Egypt, and in twenty nine other countries.
The most meaningful part of this growth has been its character. I have always believed that readers deserve to be challenged. There is so much value in sitting with an idea long enough for it to sharpen, in questioning instinctive reactions, and arriving at conclusions that feel earned. That final step in the thinking process, where an idea coheres and stretches wide in the mind, is crucial. This is the major difference between consumption and engagement.
I, too, need to be challenged. I especially am grateful for readers who engaged closely with my questions and often obscure ideas. I love nothing more than when messages come in responding to specific arguments or particular lines and ideas. The engagement I have received is not something I take for granted.
OhSoAnnie has always focused on the idea that fashion is not superficial, and that writing can be both beautiful and intellectually rigorous. This year truly reinforced that belief. Your response affirmed that there is an audience for this area of work.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my work. Your engagement has allowed this platform to grow without losing its focus, and has made it possible for me to think more ambitiously about what comes next. What began as fascination has now become a clear direction for my future.
Xoxo,
Annie
